On the synchronisation of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii's eukaryotic flagella
My work is focussed on understanding the synchronisation mechanism of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii's two flagella. I use micropipettes as well as microfluidic techniques to investigate the influence of externally imposed, homogeneous flow on the flagellar beating. Thereby, I can tune the influence of hydrodynamic interactions on synchronisation in order to see if they are important for robust in-phase synchronisation or not.
